2016 marked the most successful year ever for Hamilton Fringe, drawing more than 10,000 enthusiastic revellers to a fascinating variety of performances at venues across the city. This year, the festival is back for its 14th year! If you love live theatre, you won't want to miss Hamilton Fringe, taking place July 20-30.
This year, the festival will welcome over 48 companies to present more than 300 performances during 11 incredible days! Performances will take place at a number of locations across the city and will vary from sketch comedy to contemporary dance routines. Venues include Theatre Aquarius, Mills Hardware, Baltimore House, Hamilton Theatre Inc. and The Players' Guild.
All Fringe patrons will need a Fringe Backer Button to attend performances. Your Backer Button can be purchased for $5 and is accepted at all Fringe performances. Advance tickets are now available online at http://hamiltonfringe.ca. Only 50 percent of tickets will be sold in advance. The remaining tickets will be available at the door of each show's venue one hour before the show for $12.
Fringe organizers recommend starting your experience at Serve Ping Pong at 107 King Street East. This gathering place will be a hot spot for festival-goers, offering nightly entertainment, $5 draft beer with your Fringe Backer Button and discounts on ping pong.
Presenting live theatre in an informal, accessible and inexpensive environment, the Fringe strives to break down traditional boundaries between audience and artist, encouraging open dialogue between theatre-goers and theatre-creators. Come on out and support Hamilton's budding artists this month! Visit www.hamiltonfringe.ca.
